A Guide to Consumer Electronics World (CEW) for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi: the rules that shape your stand
Bharat Mandapam is India's flagship convention complex — modern, large and closely managed, with high finish expectations and its own access, technical and rigging discipline. Hall 3's configuration and hanging rules are specific to the venue, so we design to the allocated space and its rules; a stand that passes in an older exhibition hall reads as under-built here.
A consumer-electronics stand is AV-, power- and connectivity-heavy: working demos, screens, connected-home setups and reliable network access. We plan the declared electrical load and AV early and order through the venue's official contractor ahead of the deadline. Product security matters too — small, valuable, portable goods need lockable overnight storage designed in. All materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in, finishing is completed off-site, and two-storey builds need a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer.
Delhi freight runs roughly 1,400 km by road from our Mumbai facility, so crating and convoy timing decide your build week. Because the stand is pre-built and inspected in Mumbai, what arrives is a known quantity — no first-time assembly attempted under a flagship venue's build-up clock, and the AV can be commissioned rather than rushed.
What a winning consumer-electronics stand needs
The stands that win distribution at CEW look like the retail environment their product will sell into. We design bright, colour-true, retail-grade product display with hands-on access, working demonstrations — a connected-home scene, an appliance in operation, a gadget the buyer can pick up — clear category signposting so the visitor knows within seconds which of the five shows you belong to, and comfortable meeting space for the margin and territory conversation.
Product security and demo reliability are the practical constraints. Small high-value items walk; and a demo that fails in front of a retail chain buyer costs more than the demo was worth. We design lockable storage and build the AV to be commissioned and tested before doors open. We keep the message specific — smart living, mobile accessories, contract manufacturing, IT solutions, appliances — because a modern-retail chain buyer and an OEM sourcing head assess completely differently.
Designing for distributors, retail chains and e-commerce buyers
Buyers walk CEW with stocking, listing and sourcing mandates across a five-show floor, so the stand must qualify them fast and then host the negotiation: an instantly legible category, a working product demonstration, then a conversation about price points, MOQ, margins, territory, warranty and after-sales. We design the path from the demo to that conversation, because at a distribution show the working product earns the interest and the meeting earns the territory.
We keep the message channel-aware, because a large-format retailer, an e-commerce platform and a regional stockist buy on different economics, and a precise, margin-literate proposition is engaged with far faster than a general 'innovative technology' one — particularly when the buyer has four other shows to walk.
What a Consumer Electronics World stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at CEW runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with working demos and meeting space, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island, double-deck or flagship build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, AV integration, road freight to Delhi, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor rental outside it.
What moves the number is extensive AV and connected-demo integration, premium retail-grade finish to Bharat Mandapam's standard, secure lockable storage, or a double-deck lounge. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out, which sit inside the turnkey figure.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for accessory and component suppliers to 100 m²-plus islands and flagships for major electronics and appliance houses. The layout leads with a working, hands-on product moment and unmistakable category signposting where the aisle sees it, keeps the range scannable, places secure storage discreetly, and sets meeting space for the distribution conversation. Corner and island positions help a brand be found across a five-show floor.
Whatever the size, we light colour-true and finish to retail standard, because at a consumer-electronics show the buyer is unconsciously asking whether your product will look good on their shelf — and your stand is the first answer they get.
Getting into Bharat Mandapam: build-up timing
The venue runs a tight, closely managed build-up and AV schedule, and power, connectivity and rigging book up early. We confirm your build slot, order power, AV and connectivity through the venue contractor before the deadline, plan the demo integration and secure storage, and time the Mumbai-to-Delhi freight so the stand lands inside its access window — built, with the AV commissioned and tested before the first buyer.
Because a failed demo in front of a retail chain buyer is expensive, we treat AV commissioning as a scheduled task with time built in, not something attempted on opening morning.
Reusing your stand between editions
Consumer-electronics brands exhibit at CEW and the wider electronics, appliance and retail circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand with re-deployable AV and demo fixtures is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and product display for each edition, and keep your power, AV and connectivity orders on file — so the next edition is a refresh, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- Ambiguous category messaging on a five-show floor where the buyer has four other halls to walk.
- A demo assembled and tested on opening morning, then failing in front of a chain buyer.
- No secure storage for small, high-value, portable product.
- Warm or uneven lighting that misrepresents how product will read on a retail shelf.
