A Guide to Heimtextil India for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon: the rules that shape your stand
The BEC (NESCO) is Mumbai's principal venue — a multi-hall complex on the Western Express Highway with its own access and marshalling discipline. Hall heights and column grids vary by hall, so we design to the specific hall rather than a generic assumption.
For a fabric-display-heavy stand, we plan drape rails, sample walls, plinths and lighting that show textiles truthfully — drape, colour and weave. Power is sanctioned through the venue's official electrical contractor against a declared load, ordered ahead to avoid peak-build surcharges. All materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in, finishing is completed off-site, and two-storey builds need a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer.
The home-ground advantage is real: our workshop is minutes from the BEC, so there is no long road freight, crating is shorter, and we can react fast during build-up — a genuine cost and reliability edge, and useful when fabric display and room settings need to be hung and dressed cleanly.
What a winning home-textiles stand needs
The stands that win at Heimtextil India present fabric so it can be seen and touched. We design drape displays, sample walls and product or room settings under lighting that shows colour, weave and finish truthfully, with samples a buyer can handle, a way to show a wide range, and a comfortable space to lay out and talk an order. Touch and drape are decisive, so we make the fabric the hero and easy to assess.
We keep the range scannable and the display tactile, and we light textiles to show them honestly, because a home-textiles buyer assesses your product by handling it and seeing how it drapes — then sits to talk ranges and supply.
Designing for retailers, exporters and interior buyers
Buyers walk Heimtextil India with sourcing and range decisions, so the stand has to present fabric and then host: tactile display they can handle, then a conversation about designs, qualities, MOQ, pricing and lead time. We design the path from the fabric to that conversation, because at a sourcing show the product earns the meeting and the meeting earns the order.
We keep the message specific to your category — bed and bath, upholstery, curtains, rugs, yarns — because a retail buyer and a hospitality sourcing team want different things, and a focused, beautifully presented range is engaged with far faster than a crowded one.
What a Heimtextil India stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at Heimtextil India runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with tactile fabric display and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island or double-deck build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, delivery within Mumbai, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor rental outside it.
What moves the number is elaborate fabric display and room settings, the level of finish and lighting, or a double-deck lounge. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out — and because this is our home venue, you also save the freight an out-of-Mumbai builder would add.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for specialist and yarn suppliers to 100 m²-plus islands and double-deckers for major home-textile houses. The layout leads with a tactile fabric or room-setting moment where the aisle sees it, keeps range display scannable and samples handleable, and sets a meeting area for the order conversation. Corner and island positions, well lit, help a brand stand out on a visually competitive floor.
Whatever the size, we present and light fabric to show drape, colour and weave truthfully, because on a home-textiles floor the presentation and tactility of the fabric are read directly as the quality of the product.
Getting into the BEC: build-up timing
The BEC runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and services book up early. We confirm your build slot, order power through the venue contractor before the deadline, plan drape rails, sample walls and lighting, and — because we're local — schedule a short, reliable delivery so the stand lands and the fabric display and settings are hung and dressed cleanly, ready for the first buyer.
Being Mumbai-based, we can hang and dress fabric display and room settings carefully during build-up in a way an out-of-town builder can't.
Reusing your stand between editions
Home-textile brands exhibit at Heimtextil India and the regional textile and home circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand with re-deployable drape and sample display is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and fabric display for each edition, and keep your contractor orders on file — so the next show is a refresh, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- Fabric displayed so a buyer can't see drape or handle samples.
- Lighting that misrepresents colour, weave or finish.
- A crowded range a buyer can't scan and assess.
- No meeting area to lay out and talk an order.
