A Guide to In-Store Asia for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon: the rules that shape your stand
The BEC (NESCO) is Mumbai's principal venue — a multi-hall complex on the Western Express Highway with its own access and marshalling discipline. Hall heights and column grids vary by hall, so we design to the specific hall rather than a generic assumption.
Retail-environment stands lean on lighting and finish, so we plan the lighting scheme, power and fit-out carefully. Power is sanctioned through the venue's official electrical contractor against a declared load, ordered ahead to avoid peak-build surcharges. All materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in, finishing is completed off-site, and two-storey builds need a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer.
The home-ground advantage is real and especially fitting here: our workshop is minutes from the BEC, so there is no long road freight, crating is shorter, and we can craft, finish and light an exacting retail-design build carefully during build-up — a genuine cost and reliability edge for a stand that has to be flawless.
What a winning retail-design stand needs
The stands that win at In-Store Asia are exemplary retail environments. We design with the fixtures, lighting, materials and finish that demonstrate your craft, often staging a mock store environment or hero display that shows exactly the quality you deliver, with clean, precise execution. A meeting area lets a retailer or brand manager talk a project. The finish must be impeccable, because this audience judges retail-design quality for a living.
Lighting and detail do the heavy lifting on a retail-design floor, so we design the lighting scheme and the finish detailing as the centrepiece, and keep the message specific so a buyer grasps your offer and your standard quickly.
Designing for retailers, VMs and store designers
Buyers walk In-Store Asia with store-design, fit-out and fixture decisions, so the stand has to demonstrate craft and then host the conversation: an exemplary environment or display that proves your quality, then a conversation about projects, fixtures, rollouts and service. We design the path from the showcase to that conversation, because at a craft-driven show the execution earns the meeting and the meeting earns the project.
We keep the message specific to your segment — shopfitting, fixtures, VM and props, lighting, signage, retail tech — because a store-design buyer and a retail-tech buyer want different proof, and a precise, beautifully executed showcase lands far harder than a general 'retail solutions' one.
What an In-Store Asia stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at In-Store Asia runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with a hero display or mock environment and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island, double-deck or flagship build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, delivery within Mumbai, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor rental outside it.
What moves the number is the level of finish and lighting, an elaborate mock store environment, premium materials, or a double-deck lounge. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out — and because this is our home venue, you also save the freight an out-of-Mumbai builder would add.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for fixture and tech suppliers to 100 m²-plus islands and double-deckers for major shopfitting and design houses. The layout leads with an exemplary environment or hero display where the aisle sees it and keeps a meeting area for the project conversation. Corner and island positions, beautifully lit, help a craft-led stand stand out on a design-literate floor.
Whatever the size, we craft, finish and light the stand to an impeccable standard, because on a retail-design floor the stand IS your portfolio and is judged exactly as your work.
Getting into the BEC: build-up timing
The BEC runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and services book up early. We confirm your build slot, order power through the venue contractor before the deadline, plan the lighting scheme and fit-out, and — because we're local — schedule a short, reliable delivery so the stand lands and is finished and lit to an exacting standard, ready for the first buyer.
Being Mumbai-based, we can craft and light an exacting retail-design build carefully during build-up rather than against the clock a long freight would impose.
Reusing your stand between editions
Retail-design brands exhibit at In-Store Asia and the regional retail and design circuit across the year, so a modular reusable core with re-deployable display and lighting is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh the staged environment, graphics and lighting for each edition, and keep your contractor orders on file — so the next show is a refresh, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- A rough or generic stand on a floor where the audience judges retail-design execution for a living.
- Flat or careless lighting on a floor where lighting is part of the craft.
- Telling rather than showing — panels instead of a real environment.
- No meeting area for the project conversation.
