A Guide to Index Fairs for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon: the rules that shape your stand
The BEC (NESCO) is Mumbai's principal venue — a multi-hall complex on the Western Express Highway with its own access and marshalling discipline. Hall heights and column grids vary by hall, so we design to the specific hall rather than a generic assumption.
A furniture and interiors stand leans on finish, styling and lighting — the product must look styled and premium — and often needs room-like settings and space to lay out a range. Power is sanctioned through the venue's official electrical contractor against a declared load, ordered early to avoid peak-build surcharges. All materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in, finishing is completed off-site, and two-storey builds need a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer.
The home-ground advantage is real: our workshop is minutes from the BEC, so there is no long road freight, crating is shorter, and we can react fast during build-up and style and dress room-like settings carefully — a genuine cost and reliability edge on a Mumbai stand.
What a winning furniture and interiors stand needs
The stands that win at Index Fairs present product in beautifully styled settings. We design styled, well-lit room-like settings that show furniture and interior products at their best, with considered lighting that shows material, finish and colour truthfully, and a comfortable area for the specification and order conversation. Styling and finish do a lot of the work, because a design audience judges the product by how it is presented.
We keep the message specific to your category — furniture, furnishings, lighting, surfaces, décor — because an interior designer and a hospitality buyer specify differently, and a beautifully styled, focused range lands far harder than a crowded, un-styled one.
Designing for designers, retailers and hospitality buyers
Buyers walk Index Fairs building projects and ranges, so the stand has to present product beautifully and then host the conversation: styled, well-lit settings and clear ranges, then a conversation about specification, finishes, lead times, pricing and project support. We design the path from the styled setting to that conversation, because at a design-and-specification show the presentation earns the interest and the meeting earns the order or specification.
We keep the message specific to your category and audience, because retail, contract and hospitality buyers want different proof, and a styled, focused presentation is engaged with far faster than a general one.
What an Index Fairs stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at Index Fairs runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with styled settings and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island, double-deck or flagship build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, delivery within Mumbai, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor rental outside it.
What moves the number is elaborate room-like settings, premium finishes and lighting, or a double-deck lounge. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out — and because this is our home venue, you also save the freight an out-of-Mumbai builder would add.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for specialist brands to 100 m²-plus islands and double-deckers for major furniture houses and developers. The layout leads with a styled, well-lit setting where the aisle sees it, keeps the range viewable, and sets a comfortable area for the specification and order conversation. Corner and island positions, well styled, help a brand stand out on a visually competitive design floor.
Whatever the size, we style, finish and light the stand to the standard your product implies, because on a design floor a poorly styled stand undermines a premium product no matter how good it is.
Getting into the BEC: build-up timing
The BEC runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and services book up early. We confirm your build slot, order power through the venue contractor before the deadline, plan the room-like settings and lighting, and — because we're local — schedule a short, reliable delivery so the stand lands styled and ready for the first specifier.
Being Mumbai-based, we can style and dress room-like settings carefully during build-up in a way an out-of-town builder can't.
Reusing your stand between editions
Furniture and interior brands exhibit at Index Fairs and the regional design and interiors circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand with re-deployable settings is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics, product and styling for each edition, and keep your contractor orders on file — so the next edition is a refresh, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- Un-styled, crowded product display on a design floor.
- Flat lighting that flattens material, finish and colour.
- A cheaply finished stand undercutting a premium product.
- No comfortable area for the specification and order conversation.
