A Guide to Mumbai Wood for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon: the rules that shape your stand
The BEC (NESCO) is Mumbai's principal venue — a multi-hall complex on the Western Express Highway with its own access and marshalling discipline. Hall heights and column grids vary by hall, so we design to the specific hall rather than a generic assumption.
Woodworking machinery can be heavy and dust-generating, so floor loading and extraction are planned in: we plan machine positions, base plates and load spread to the venue's limits, coordinate the forklift, and design for safe running of a demo. Three-phase power is ordered against a declared load through the official contractor ahead of the deadline; all materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in; finishing is completed off-site.
The home-ground advantage is real: our workshop is minutes from the BEC, so there is no long road freight, crating is shorter, and we can react fast during build-up and set machinery carefully — a genuine cost and reliability edge on a Mumbai stand.
What a winning woodworking stand needs
The stands that win orders at Mumbai Wood put the machine or material first and make capability legible. For machinery brands, we design a stable, well-lit platform with safe sightlines for a running or demonstrated machine, with clear signage on process, output and finish quality; for hardware, panel and material brands, strong technical and sample display with the data a manufacturer scans for. A meeting area lets a manufacturer talk specification, output and supply.
Capability has to read fast on a manufacturing floor, so we give the demonstration or the samples room rather than crowding the stand with generic imagery, and keep the message specific so a furniture manufacturer grasps your machinery or material capability before they reach you.
Designing for manufacturers, fabricators and material buyers
Buyers walk Mumbai Wood with capital-equipment and materials decisions for real production, so the stand has to qualify them fast and then talk numbers: a clear statement of the machine's process and output or the material's quality, a demonstration or sample display, then a conversation about throughput, integration, price and service. We design the path from the display to that conversation, because at a technical manufacturing show the proof earns the meeting and the meeting earns the order.
We keep the message specific to your domain — panel processing, edge-banding, CNC, hardware, laminates — because a machinery buyer and a hardware buyer want different proof, and a precise capability statement is found far faster than a general one.
What a Mumbai Wood stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at Mumbai Wood runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with a machine or sample display and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium raw-space or multi-machine build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, delivery within Mumbai, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor space outside it.
What moves the number is machine floor loading and handling, a live demonstration with three-phase power and extraction, or a large raw-space build. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out — and because this is our home venue, you also save the freight an out-of-Mumbai builder would add.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for hardware and material suppliers up to 100 m²-plus raw-space builds carrying machinery for major manufacturers. The layout puts the machine or sample display where the aisle sees it, keeps safe circulation around equipment, and sets a meeting area slightly back. Corner and island positions help a machine be seen on a busy, order-focused floor.
Whatever the size, we light and present the machinery or material to show engineering and finish quality, because on a woodworking floor the presentation is part of how a manufacturer judges the capability.
Getting into the BEC: build-up timing
The BEC runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and power and handling book up early. We confirm your build slot, calculate and order three-phase power through the official contractor before the deadline, plan floor loading, extraction and the forklift schedule for machine move-in, and — because we're local — schedule a short, reliable delivery so the stand and machines land set and ready for the first buyer.
Being Mumbai-based, we can set and test running machinery carefully during build-up in a way an out-of-town builder can't.
Reusing your stand between editions
Woodworking and furniture brands exhibit at Mumbai Wood, DelhiWood/IndiaWood and the regional manufacturing circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand designed around your machine footprints is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and sample display for each edition, and keep your power and handling orders on file — so the next show is a refresh and a re-set of the machines, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- A static machine on a floor where a running demo wins the order.
- Under-planning floor loading, power or extraction for a running machine.
- Generic imagery that hides the machine's output or finish quality.
- No meeting area on a technical, order-driven manufacturing floor.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number once the organiser has issued it, and a short note on what will physically happen on the stand. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
