A Guide to Sound & Light Asia for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida: rigging, and the rules that shape your stand
The India Expo Mart is one of India's largest venues — big, flat halls with good height that suit rigging-heavy and raw-space builds. Height is the resource that matters here: trussing towers, flown line arrays and lighting rigs live in the vertical, so we confirm the allocated hall's height envelope and rigging points before designing anything, and we plan whether structures are ground-supported or flown from the outset.
Rigging is where a pro-AV stand succeeds or fails. Any flown element needs engineered load calculations, rated hardware and, for complex or elevated structures, a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer, filed ahead of the show. Ground-supported truss towers need ballast and load spread planned to the venue's floor limits. Power is ordered against a declared load through the official contractor early — lighting rigs and amplifiers draw seriously — and all materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in.
The acoustic problem is unique to this show: everyone around you is demonstrating audio. A stand that does not control its own acoustic environment cannot demonstrate its product, and a stand that leaks sound annoys its neighbours and the organiser. We design absorption, directionality and, where appropriate, a closed demo room. Greater Noida freight runs roughly 1,400 km from our Mumbai facility, so crating and convoy timing decide the build week.
What a winning pro-AV stand needs
The stands that win at Sound & Light Asia are rigged correctly and demonstrate honestly. We design engineered, properly rated hangs with visible good practice, clean cable management, controlled acoustics so audio can be judged rather than guessed at, lighting demonstration in a suitably darkened or shaded zone, and a meeting area for the specification conversation.
Honest demonstration matters in a sector full of inflated numbers. A production professional who suspects your SPL figure or your lumen claim discounts everything else you say. We keep the message specific and quantified to your domain — line array, monitors, moving lights, LED fixtures, truss, control, staging — because a rental fleet, a system integrator and a lighting designer assess entirely differently.
Designing for rental companies, integrators and production houses
Buyers walk this expo with fleet, project and specification decisions, so the stand has to demonstrate the product credibly and then talk working realities: audio heard properly or fixtures seen properly, then a conversation about specification, rigging weight, power draw, road-case durability, spares, service and rental return. We design the path from the demonstration to that conversation, because at a production show the honest demo earns the meeting and the durability and service record earns the fleet order.
We keep the message practical, because rental buyers think in terms of trucks, cases, rig time and failure rates, and a stand that speaks to those realities is engaged with far faster than one that speaks only in specifications.
What a Sound & Light Asia stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at Sound & Light Asia runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with rigged display, controlled demo and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium raw-space, heavy-rigging or closed demo-room build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, road freight to Greater Noida, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor space outside it.
What moves the number is engineered rigging and flown structures with their load calculations and certification, acoustic treatment or a closed demo room, substantial declared power for lighting rigs, or a large raw-space build. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for control, cable and accessory suppliers up to 100 m²-plus raw-space builds with flown line arrays and full lighting rigs for major manufacturers. The layout works vertically — trussing, hangs and rigs claim attention above the aisle — while protecting a controlled listening or viewing zone at ground level and a meeting area clear of the demo. Corner and island positions give a flown rig the sightlines it needs.
Whatever the size, we rig properly and manage cable cleanly, because on this floor your own stand is the most direct evidence a production professional has of how your equipment behaves in the real world.
Getting into Greater Noida: build-up timing
The venue runs a tight build-up and marshalling schedule, and rigging points, power and handling book up early — at a show where nearly every exhibitor wants to fly something, rigging capacity is the scarce resource. We confirm your build slot and rigging points, file load calculations and any structural certificate ahead of the deadline, order power through the official contractor early, and time the Mumbai-to-Greater Noida freight so the stand lands inside its access window with time to rig properly.
Rigging done in a hurry is rigging done badly, and at this show it is done in front of people who can tell. We build the time for a correct hang into the schedule rather than hoping for it.
Reusing your stand between editions
Pro-AV brands exhibit at Sound & Light Asia, InfoComm India, Broadcast India and the regional event-technology circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand designed around your rigging and demo footprints is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and product line-up for each edition, and keep your rigging, power and handling orders on file — so the next show is a refresh and a re-rig, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- A visibly poor hang or untidy cable management, in front of an audience of riggers.
- Audio demonstration with no acoustic control, in a hall where everyone is making noise.
- Lighting demonstration in an uncontrolled, brightly lit zone where nothing reads.
- Leaving rigging points and load calculations late at a show where flying capacity books out first.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number once the organiser has issued it, and a short note on what will physically happen on the stand. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
