A Guide to Water Expo (Water Today) for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at the Chennai Trade Centre: the rules that shape your stand
The Chennai Trade Centre (Nandambakkam) is the city's principal exhibition venue, with its own access and marshalling discipline. The hall you're allocated shapes the build, so we design to the specific space rather than a generic assumption.
Water equipment can be heavy and may involve liquids or running water, so floor loading and any water or drainage needs are planned in early. Power is sanctioned through the venue's official electrical contractor against a declared load (including any demonstration), ordered ahead to avoid peak-build surcharges. All materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in, finishing is completed off-site, and two-storey builds need a structural-stability certificate from a licensed engineer.
Chennai logistics are the variable to plan: freight runs roughly 1,330 km by road from our Mumbai facility, so crating and convoy timing decide your build week; we schedule to land the stand inside its access window, coordinating any separately arriving heavy equipment into one plan.
What a winning water-technology stand needs
The stands that win at the Water Expo display the technology and make the engineering legible. We design clean, well-lit display for real equipment — a pump, a membrane skid, a treatment unit — with proper, safe mounting, clear signage on capacity, efficiency and the standards met, references to schemes served, and a seated area for the technical conversation. Where a working or cutaway demonstration helps, we design it in with the power, water and drainage it needs.
Efficiency, reliability and references are decisive in water procurement, so we give those prominent placement, and keep the message specific so a municipal or industrial buyer grasps what the equipment delivers before they reach you.
Designing for municipal, industrial and consultant buyers
Buyers walk the Water Expo with schemes, tenders and capacity needs, so the stand has to qualify them fast and then talk specifics: a clear statement of your equipment, process, capacity and efficiency, a demonstration where useful, then a seated conversation about flow rates, compliance, lifecycle cost and service. We design the path from the equipment on display to that conversation, because in water procurement the efficiency and references close the deal.
We keep the message specific to your domain — pumping, treatment, membranes, desalination, monitoring, pipes — because a municipal water engineer and an industrial-effluent buyer want different proof, and a precise capability statement is found far faster than a general 'water solutions' one.
What a Water Expo stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand at the Water Expo runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with equipment display and a meeting area, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island, double-deck or heavy-equipment build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, road freight to Chennai, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor rental outside it.
What moves the number is heavy equipment floor loading and any water or drainage requirement, a working demonstration, meeting-room enclosure, or a double-deck lounge. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out, which sit inside the turnkey figure.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for instrumentation and chemical suppliers to 100 m²-plus islands and double-deckers for pump, treatment and membrane majors. The layout puts equipment where the aisle sees it, plans safe circulation around heavy or wet displays, and keeps a meeting area for the technical conversation. Corner and island positions help on a busy, project-focused floor.
Whatever the size, we present and light equipment well, because well-presented technology on a clean stand is the quality signal a water buyer reads before any conversation starts.
Getting into the Chennai Trade Centre: build-up timing
The Chennai Trade Centre runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and services book up early. We confirm your build slot, order power and any water/drainage and demonstration load through the venue contractor before the deadline, plan floor loading for heavy equipment, and time the Mumbai-to-Chennai freight so the stand and its equipment land set and ready for the first buyer.
Because heavy equipment often arrives separately, we coordinate the stand and the equipment into one access window rather than reacting to them on build day.
Reusing your stand between editions
Water-technology brands exhibit at the Water Expo, IFAT India and the regional water circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand with re-deployable equipment display is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and equipment display for each edition, and keep your power and handling orders on file — so the next show is a refresh, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- Under-planning floor loading or drainage for heavy or wet equipment.
- Generic 'water solutions' messaging with no efficiency or reference figures.
- No meeting area on a project-driven floor.
- Designing to a generic hall and missing the allocated hall's constraints.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number once the organiser has issued it, and a short note on what will physically happen on the stand. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
