A Guide to World Mithai & Namkeen Convention for First-Time Exhibitors
Building at HITEX, Hyderabad: heat, hygiene and the rules that shape your stand
HITEX is Hyderabad's principal exhibition venue, with its own access and marshalling discipline; hall heights and grids are specific to the venue, so we design to the allocated hall. Freight runs roughly 710 km by road from our Mumbai facility — a moderate leg, shorter than Delhi or Chennai — so crating and convoy timing are manageable but not casual.
Two constraints shape this build more than the venue's rules. The first is heat and product condition: sweets, particularly milk-based mithai, degrade in a warm hall. Chilled display and chilled back-of-house sample storage are not luxuries; they determine whether your product is tasted at its best on day three or at its worst. We plan the declared electrical load for chilling early and order it through the official contractor ahead of the deadline.
The second is hygiene and food handling. Tasting points need proper hygienic surfaces, hand-washing or sanitising provision, covered display and a waste and cleaning plan — and where a machinery exhibitor runs live product, food-grade surfaces and a cleaning regime. All materials are FR-treated with certificate and fire NOC filed before move-in, finishing is completed off-site, and any live frying or heating demonstration needs explicit clearance, extraction and fire precautions agreed with the venue in advance rather than assumed.
What a winning sweets and namkeen stand needs
The stands that win here decide which conversation they are having and build for it. For a finished-sweets or namkeen brand, we design an appetising, well-lit, chilled-where-necessary product display with a hygienic tasting point, clear packaging and shelf-life information, and space to talk distribution and margins. For an ingredient or machinery supplier, we design a technical capability display or a running machine with the loading, power and food-grade hygiene it needs, and a meeting area for the capital conversation.
In both cases the tasting has to be excellent, and excellence here means condition control. We keep the message specific — mithai, namkeen, confectionery, ingredients, machinery, packaging, franchise — because a sweet-shop chain evaluating a franchise format and a namkeen manufacturer evaluating a fryer share nothing but the aisle.
Designing for halwais, manufacturers and retail buyers
Buyers here range from traditional sweet-shop owners and halwais to industrial namkeen manufacturers and modern retail buyers, and they arrive with correspondingly different mandates: franchise and format decisions, capital equipment purchases, ingredient supply agreements, or retail listings. The stand has to declare which of these it serves and then host that conversation properly.
We design the path from the tasting or demonstration to that conversation, because in a category where relationships and trust run deep, the sample earns the seat and the seat earns the order. And we keep the presentation respectful of the category's heritage while looking commercially modern — a traditional sweets business modernising its packaging is not looking for a stand that has forgotten what mithai is.
What a Mithai & Namkeen Expo stand costs
A turnkey SOL stand runs from ₹1.8 lakh for a focused 9–18 m² Essential presence, from ₹4.5 lakh for a 24–48 m² Regular build with chilled display, a hygienic tasting point and meeting space, and from ₹12 lakh for a 50–100 m²-plus Premium island, machinery or franchise-format build. The figure is all-inclusive — design, fabrication, graphics, lighting, road freight to Hyderabad, install, dismantle and the venue paperwork — with only the organiser's floor rental outside it.
What moves the number is chilled display and chilled sample storage with their declared load, a live machinery demonstration with food-grade hygiene and any frying extraction, or a large franchise-format or island build. What you do not pay extra for is flooring, material handling and electrical fit-out.
Stand sizes and layouts
Stands run from compact 9–18 m² spaces for ingredient, packaging and service suppliers to 100 m²-plus islands for major brands, machinery houses and franchise formats. The layout leads with appetising, well-lit and correctly chilled product where the aisle sees it, keeps the tasting point hygienic and accessible, hides chilled back-of-house storage discreetly, and sets meeting space for the order or capital conversation.
Whatever the size, we light food warmly but truthfully and control its condition, because on a sweets floor a product that looks and tastes exactly as good on the last afternoon as on the first morning is itself the argument for your consistency.
Getting into HITEX: build-up timing
The venue runs a tight build-up and dock schedule, and power — particularly the declared load for chilling — books up early. We confirm your build slot, order power and chilling through the official contractor before the deadline, agree any live frying or heating demonstration and its extraction and fire precautions with the venue in advance, plan the tasting point and chilled storage, and time the ~710 km Mumbai-to-Hyderabad freight so the stand lands built and ready.
Because product condition is the whole argument in this category, we make sure chilled storage is running and stocked before doors open, not switched on alongside them.
Reusing your stand between editions
Sweets, namkeen and confectionery brands exhibit at this convention, AAHAR, Annapoorna, Inter FoodTech and the regional food circuit across the year, so a modular reusable stand with a re-deployable tasting point and chilled display is strong value. We store the core in Mumbai, refresh graphics and product display for each edition, and keep your power and chilling orders on file — so the next edition is a refresh, not a rebuild.
Common mistakes, in order of frequency
- A tired, warm sample tasted on day two — worse than offering no sample at all.
- Hedging between the technical machinery pitch and the finished-product retail pitch.
- Planning a frying demonstration without agreed extraction, fire precautions and venue clearance.
- Under-declaring the electrical load needed for chilled display and back-of-house storage.
Getting Started
Send your stand size, your hall and stand number once the organiser has issued it, and a short note on what will physically happen on the stand. You get a 3D design and an itemised all-in quote, at no charge and with no obligation.
